Ο γιατρός αρχικά επικεντρώθηκε στην πάθηση καρωτιδικών αρτηριών και εξήγησε στους ακροατές πως οι καρωτιδικές αρτηρίες διοχετεύουν οξυγονομένο αίμα στο μυαλό.
Η πάθηση καρωτιδικών αρτηριών χαρακτηρίζεται από την συσσώρευση αθηρωματικών πλακών στο εσωτερικό της αρτηρίας, κάτι που προκαλεί στένωση και επηρεάζει
τη ροή του αίματος.
Στην συνέχεια, αναφέρθηκε και στην περιφερική αγγειακή πάθηση, που χαρακτηρίζεται από την στένωση των αιμοφόρων αγγείων στα κάτω άκρα του σώματος.

On Tuesday, June 21st, Dr. David Finlay was the distinguished guest on HELLAS FM.
Dr. Finlay has received many awards and honors which include his service in the military for five years, including assignments in Haiti and the Pentagon
and was a General Military Officer at the Pentagon.
Dr. Finlay oversaw medical and emergency care at the UN and the Peace Corps and was assigned to the
President of the U.S., William J. Clinton, the Presidential Party, and other dignitaries.
Dr. Finlay is Assistant Professor of Surgery and Radiology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
Dr. Finlay spoke about carotid artery disease and explained to the audience that the carotid arteries deliver oxygenated blood to the brain.
The doctor explained that carotid artery disease is characterized by the accumulation of plaque in the carotid arteries, resulting in stenosis of the arteries and
reduced blood flow to the brain.
In the course of the presentation, Dr. Finlay also discussed peripheral vascular disease, a narrowing of the peripheral blood vessels that supply oxygenated blood to the
organs outside the brain and heart, such as the arms, legs, and organs below the stomach.
The doctor mentioned that smokers and diabetics are most vulnerable.
In closing, the doctor gave advice to the audience for a better quality of life.
