Την Τρίτη, 15 Νοεμβρίου, καλεσμένη στο στούντιο του HELLAS FM για την εκπομπή του Mount Sinai με την Φαίη Κοζά ήταν η παγκοσμίως διακεκριμένη οφθαλμίατρος, Dr. Sumayya Ahmad.  Αρχικά, η γιατρός αναφέρθηκε στον καταρράκτη, μία πάθηση που επηρεάζει τον αμφιβληστροειδή.  Παράγοντες είναι συνήθως η προχωρημένη ηλικία, το οικογενειακό ιστορικό και ο διαβήτης.  Η γιατρός ανέφερε πως δεν είναι διόλου απίθανο να συνυπάρχουν ο διαβήτης με το γλαύκωμα και συμβούλεψε τους ακροατές για την ιδιαίτερη διαχείριση που υφίσταται.  Στη συνέχεια της εκπομπής, η Dr. Ahmad αναφέρθηκε στις χειρουργικές αγωγές και για τις δύο οφθαλμολογικές παθήσεις.

Η Dr. Ahmad είναι Επίκουρος Καθηγήτρια Οφθαλμολογίας, στην Ιατρική Σχολή Άϊκαν του Νοσοκομείου Mount Sinai.

On Tuesday, November 15th, HELLAS FM featured the distinguished ophthalmologist Dr. Sumayya Ahmad on the Mount Sinai Medical Show hosted by FayKozas. Initially, the doctor spoke about cataracts, a condition that affects the retina of the eye.  Common risk factors include age, family history, and diabetes.The doctor mentioned that it is not uncommon for cataracts to co-exist with glaucoma and gave the audience members pointers regarding the special consideration in treatment that is required.  In the course of the presentation, Dr. Ahmad discussed  the surgical treatment modes for both cataract and glaucoma and gave the audience
advice for a better quality of life.

Dr. Ahmad is Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and is affiliated with Mount Sinai Hospital and with Mount Sinai Queens.
