Την Τρίτη, 7 Φεβρουαρίου, εκλεκτός καλεσμένος στην εκπομπή του Mount Sinai με την Φαίη Κοζά ήταν ο παγκοσμίως διακεκριμένος γιατρός Dr. Matthew Mori.
Ο γιατρός επικεντρώθηκε στις φωνητικές χορδές και αρχικά εξήγησε στους ακροατές πως λειτουργούν για να παράγουν την φωνή μας.  Στην συνέχεια, αναφέρθηκε
στην παράλυση χορδών, μία πάθηση που οφείλεται κυρίως σε νευρολογικές αιτίες.  Ο γιατρός επισήμανε πως όταν το άτομο δυσκολεύεται να επικοινωνήσει, έχει ως
αποτέλεσμα το άγχος και την κατάθλιψη.  Πολλές φορές αναπτύσσονται κόμβοι ή πολύποδες στις χορδές, παθήσεις που επηρεάζουν επίσης την φωνή. 
Κλείνοντας, ο γιατρός ενημέρωσε τους ακροατές για τις θεραπευτικές αγώγες.

Ο Dr. Mori είναι Επίκουρος Καθηγητής Ωτορινολαρυγγολογίας στην Ιατρική Σχολή Άϊκαν του Νοσοκομείου Mount Sinai, Τμήμα Ωτορινολαρυγγολογίας, Χειρουργική Κεφαλής και Αυχένα.

On Tuesday, February 7, Dr. Matthew Mori was the highly distinguished guest on the Mount Sinai Medical Show hosted by FayKozas.
Dr. Mori focused on the vocal cords and initially explained the fascinating process of how they produce the voice.  The doctor then discussed vocal cord paralysis, covering
the risk factors and causes, and mentioned that a person with a neurological condition, such as Parkinson's or multiple sclerosis, is more likely to develop the condition. 
The doctor also referred to the social and psychological repercussions related to vocal cord paralysis, as communication is vital between humans.
Many times, nodules or polyps on the vocal cords can affect the voice as well.  In closing, Dr. Mori discussed the various treatment modes and gave the worldwide audience
advice for a better quality of life.

Dr. Mori is Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
