Την Τρίτη, 13 Ιουνίου, εκλεκτός καλεσμένος της εκπομπής του νοσοκομείου Mount Sinai με την Φαίη Κοζά ήταν ο παγκοσμίως διακεκριμένος γιατρός και ερευνητής Dr. Jason Kovacic.
Ο γιατρός επικεντρώθηκε στις έρευνες που γίνονται στο εργαστήριό του και από τον ίδιο και από την ομάδα του στο θέμα γονιδίων και την ινομυϊκή δυσπλασία, μία πάθηση που
επηρεάζει τα αιμοφόρα αγγεία.  Ο γιατρός εξήγησε στους ακροατές πως τα γονίδια NF1 και ACTA2 συνδέονται με το αγγειακό σύστημα και εάν προκύψουν αλλοιώσεις, έχει ως
αποτέλεσμα την εκδήλωση καρδιακών παθήσεων.  Στόχος της όλης αυτής μελέτης είναι να κατανοηθεί η νόσος και η μεσολάβηση των γονιδίων ώστε να ανοίξει ο δρόμος για καινούργιες
ευκαιρίες στον χώρο θεραπείας.

Ο Dr. Kovacic είναι  Καθηγητής Ιατρικής και Καρδιολογίας στην Ιατρική Σχολή Άϊκαν του νοσοκομείου Mount Sinai.

On Tuesday, June 13, Dr. Jason Kovacic was the highly distinguished guest on the Mount Sinai Medical Show hosted by Fay Kozas.
Dr. Kovacic spoke about the research going on at present in the Kovacic Laboratory, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, regarding genetic expression in cardiovascular  disease.
The doctor explained to the worldwide audience that the genes NF1 and ACTA2 are associated with the vascular system and when they present with mutations, that may result in
vascular diseases.  The goal of this study is to help improve understanding of the pathophysiology and the genetic determinism that predisposes vascular diseases and to open new
possibilities for therapy.

Dr. Kovacic is Associate Professor of Medicine and Cardiology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
