Την Τρίτη, 3 Οκτωβρίου, εκλεκτός καλεσμένος στην εκπομπή του νοσοκομείου Mount Sinai με την Φαίη Κοζά ήταν ο παγκοσμίως διακεκριμένος χειρουργός Dr. Matthew Dong.
Ο γιατρός επικεντρώθηκε στην γαστροοισοφαγική παλινδρόμηση, μία πάθηση όπου το υγρό επιστρέφει από το στομάχι πίσω στον οισοφάγο.  Παράγοντες είναι η παχυσαρκία
και το τσιγάρο, καθώς και η κήλη που μπορεί να προκαλέσει βλάβη στον σφηγκτήρα του οισοφάγου.  Ο γιατρός μίλησε επίσης και για τα πεπτικά έλκη. 
Στην συνέχεια της εκπομπής, ο γιατρός αναφέρθηκε στις χειρουργικές εξελίξεις στον χώρο θεραπείας, όπως η λαπαροσκοπική, και έδωσε στους ακροατές συμβουλές για μιά καλύτερη ποιότητα ζωής.

Ο Dr. Dong είναι Επίκουρος Καθηγητής Μεταβολικού και Ενδοκρινικού Συστήματος και Ελάχιστα Επεμβατικής Χειρουργικής στην Ιατρική Σχολή Άϊκαν του Νοσοκομείου Mount Sinai.

On Tuesday, October 3rd, Dr. Matthew Dong was the distinguished guest on the Mount Sinai Medical Show hosted by Fay Kozas.
The doctor spoke about gastroesophageal reflux disease, GERD, a condition where acid flows from the stomach back to the esophagus.  Risk factors include obesity and smoking,
as well as hernia which can damage the lower esophageal sphincter.  The doctor also briefly focused on peptic ulcers.  In closing, Dr. Dong discussed the advancements and innovations
in treatments, specifically laparoscopic anti-reflux surgery, and gave the worldwide audience advice for a better quality of life.

Dr. Dong is Assistant Professor of Metabolic, Endocrine, and Minimally Invasive Surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
