Την Τρίτη, 12 Φεβρουαρίου, εκλεκτός καλεσμένος στην εκπομπή του Νοσοκομείου Mount Sinai με την Φαίη Κοζά ήταν ο παγκοσμίως διακεκριμένος Dr. Matthew Swan.
Ο γιατρός επικεντρώθηκε στο Πάρκινσον, μία νευροεκφυλιστική ασθένεια και μία από τις πιο συνηθισμένες δυσλειτουργίες του νευρολογικού συστήματος.
Ο Dr. Swan ανέφερε πως η αιτία είναι απροσδιόριστη αφού μπορεί να οφείλεται είτε σε γονίδιο είτε στην ηλικία, ακόμη και σε περιβαλλοντικές αιτίες.
Στην συνέχεια της ιατρικής εκπομπής, ο Dr. Swan αναφέρθηκε στο φάρμακο Levodopa, που είναι το πιο αποτελεσματικό φάρμακο μέχρι στιγμής στην
μαρκέτα, αφού καταφέρνει να περιορίζει τα συμπτώματα.

Ο Dr. Swan είναι Επίκουρος Καθηγητής Νευρολογίας στο Τμήμα Κινητικών Διαταραχών στην Ιατρική Σχολή Άϊκαν του Νοσοκομείου Mount Sinai.

On Tuesday, February 12, Dr. Matthew Swan was the distinguished guest on the Mount Sinai Medical Show hosted by Fay Kozas.
The doctor spoke about Parkinson's, a neurodegenerative disease and one of the most common nervous system disorders.
Dr. Swan mentioned that the cause is really unknown since it can be due to a gene or age, or even to environmental factors.
In the course of the medical show, Dr. Swan informed the worldwide audience about Levodopa, the most effective drug on the market as it manages 
to keep the symptoms under control.

Dr. Swan is Assistant Professor of Neurology in the Division of Movement Disorders, the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
