Την Τρίτη, 26 Φεβρουαρίου, εκλεκτός καλεσμένος στην εκπομπή του Νοσοκομείου Mount Sinai με την Φαίη Κοζά ήταν ο παγκοσμίως διακεκριμένος 
καρδιαγγειακός χειρούργος Dr. Amit Pawale.  Ο γιατρός μίλησε για την αορτική βαλβίδα, η οποία κλείνει την αριστερή κοιλία και ανοίγει για την ομαλή δίοδο 
οξυγονομένου αίματος από την καρδιά στην κυκλοφορία του σώματος.  Σε περίπτωση στένωσης ή ασβεστοποίησης, η βαλβίδα αντικαθίσταται από βαλβίδα είτε από
ιστό είτε από τεχνητό υλικό.  Ο Dr. Pawale αναφέρθηκε εν'συντομία και στο ανεύρυσμα της ανιούσας αορτής και επεσήμανε την σημαντικότητα της παρακολούθησης.

Ο Dr. Pawale είναι Αναπληρωτής Διευθυντής Μεταμόσχευσης Καρδιάς και Μηχανικών Βοηθητικών Συσκευών στο Νοσοκομείο Mount Sinai
και Επίκουρος Καθηγητής Καρδιαγγειακής Χειρουργικής στην Ιατρική Σχολή Άϊκαν του Νοσοκομείου Mount Sinai.

On Tuesday, February 26, Dr. Amit Pawale was the distinguished guest on the Mount Sinai Medical Show hosted by Fay Kozas.  
The doctor spoke about the aortic valve.  The aortic valve closes off the left ventricle and opens to allow the oxygen-rich blood to leave the heart to the aorta 
and to the rest of the body.  If it presents with either stenosis or calcification, the defective valve is replaced with either a tissue or mechanical valve.  
Dr. Pawale also briefly referred to the aneurysm of the ascending aorta and stressed the importance of watchful waiting.  

Dr. Pawale is Associate Director of Heart Transplantation and Mechanical Assist Devices at Mount Sinai Hospital and Assistant Professor of Cardiovascular Surgery 
at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
