On Tuesday, June 25, Dr. Diana Kirke and Dr. Reade DeLeacy were the distinguished guests on the Mount Sinai Medical Show hosted by Fay Kozas.
Initially, Dr. Kirke explained how the vocal cords work and referred to the risk factors that may cause voice and swallowing disorders. It is significant to note that
voice and swallowing disorders may have social and psychological effects. In closing, Dr. Kirke informed the worldwide audience about the innovations in treatments.
During the second hour, Dr. Reade DeLeacy spoke about cerebral aneurysms, a condition that sometimes can be asymptomatic. It is important to pay attention to the symptoms,
once they do appear, which may include headaches, vision problems, nausea, vomiting, and drowsiness. Dr. DeLeacy discussed the innovations in treating aneurysms, specifically
the endovascular coiling which reduces the risk of bleeding. In closing, the doctor informed the worldwide audience about the Cerebrovascular Stroke Center in Mount Sinai Queens
that promises enhanced efficacy, speed and quality to improve patient outcomes.
Dr. Diana Kirke is Assistant Professor, Otolaryngology, at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
Dr. Reade DeLeacy is Director of Neurointerventional Spine and Co-Director, Neuroendovascular Surgery Fellowship.
The doctor is also Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery and Radiology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
