Την Τρίτη, 13 Νοεμβρίου, εκλεκτές καλεσμένες στην εκπομπή του νοσοκομείου Mount Sinai με την Φαίη Κοζά ήταν η Dr. Jessica Lee και η Dr. Angie Wen, οι οποίες επικεντρώθηκαν σε παθήσεις οφθαλμών.  Η Dr. Lee αρχικά μίλησε για την ηλικιακή εκφύλιση ωχράς κηλίδας, μία πάθηση που μπορεί να οδηγήσει στην απώλεια όρασης.  Στην συνέχεια αναφέρθηκε και στην διαβητική αμφιβληστροειδοπάθεια, μία σοβαρή πάθηση που προκαλεί την ρήξη των αιμοφόρων αγγείων με αποτέλεσμα την τύφλωση.  Η Dr. Lee ενημέρωσε τους ακροατές για τις προσπάθειες των γιατρών να αναπτύξουν καινούργιους αμφιβληστροειδείς από βλαστοκύτταρα.

Την δεύτερη ώρα της ιατρικής εκπομπής την σκυτάλη παρέλαβε η Dr. Angie Wen η οποία μίλησε για το γλαύκωμα, μία πάθηση που δεν είναι μόνο πάθηση των "ηλικιωμένων" αλλά
ακόμη και των νεογέννητων.  Η γιατρός συμβούλεψε τους ακροατές να παρακολουθούν την ενδοφθαλμική πίεση ώστε να περιορίσουν τα ρίσκα για απώλεια όρασης. Κλείνοντας, η Dr. Wen ανέφερε πως πολύ σημαντικό είναι η τακτική παρακολούθηση από τον οφθαλμίατρο.

On Tuesday, November 13, Dr. Jessica Lee and Dr. Angie Wen were the distinguished guests on the Mount Sinai Medical Show hosted by Fay Kozas.
Both doctors spoke about eye diseases.  Dr. Lee began her presentation with macular degeneration, a leading cause of vision loss.  The doctor also discussed
diabetic retinopathy, a condition occurring in people with diabetes.  Over time, diabetes can damage the blood vessels in the retina, causing loss of vision.
Dr. Lee also discussed the possibility of growing new retinas from stem cells.

Dr. Angie Wen spoke about glaucoma, stating that it is not only an "old people's disease" as it can also affect newborns.  The doctor reminded the worldwide audience
about the significance of monitoring the intraocular pressure so as to avoid loss of vision.  In closing, Dr. Wen recommended early intervention of optical treatment
for the preservation of vision.

Dr. Lee is Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
